Oil City, Pennsylvania was the site of the first
commercially successful oil well drilled by Colonel Edwin L.
Drake on August 28, 1859. It spawned Pennzoil, Quaker State among
others. The tycoons subsequently left for Texas taking with them
Oil City's boomtown status. Cass & I spent the afternoon
exploring some of the beautiful architecture.
